Dear Editor:
I am from Tremont, and I wish I had time to talk to each of you, but since I am a father of six children, hold a full time job and have a wife who is a director of a nursing facility and working toward her nurse practitioner license, it is impossible for me to talk to each of you personally.
I know that many of you have the same obligations and some even have more, so I guess this will have to do.
My wife and I are not confident in some of our President's decisions. I know there has to be something done about health care, but one does not use a sword where only a scalpel is required. I object to these bills and as you are our voice, I expect you to express that objection. Our governmental budget should be treated just as we treat our household budget where we must prioritize what is most important for our households.
President Obama should seek advice from families such as mine. The President is more than just a man. He or she is an institution that Americans put their trust and faith in to do what is right for the American people.
This great nation was built by families like mine who know what struggling is all about. A phrase that Obama used to define Americans is American Character. Please look at the word character a moment and one can see what that word stands for in my home.
* C - Character - What I stand for and believe in.
* H - Humble - Be able to admit that I do not have all the answers all the time.
* A - Able - Ability to continue and not give up hope.
* R - Realistic - Know that I can cause my own hardships because of my own wants and not needs.
* A - Available - Be there for your family and fellow Americans when they are in need.
* C - Courageous - Stand up for people when they do not have the means to stand up for themselves.
* T - Tenacious - Always keep pushing forward.
* E - Encouraging - Encourage people to trust in God first, then the government.
* R - Responsible - Accept responsibility for my own actions, right or wrong.
Thank you and God bless America.
Sincerely,
Chris Graham
