This year Itawamba Attendance Center has chosen to reward its students with a Top Tomahawk Award. The purpose of reinforcement systems like the Top Tomahawk Award is to increase the likelihood of appropriate behaviors by rewarding students who demonstrate or model good behavior. Moreover, reinforcement systems help in the reduction of discipline problems. The overall effect is the students help to develop a positive school environment. The teachers give Top Tomahawks for students who go beyond in the classroom. Examples include helping others in need, being courteous to others, being prompt, and on time. Each week, the teachers submit their awards and nine students are drawn as the weekly winners. Weekly winners receive a KISS card for a free snack or drink at the school store. These weekly winners are placed into a drawing for a lunch with one of our administrators. Four students are drawn each nine-week grading period for this lunch out. This nine week’s winners are, from left Clay Rushing, Matt Sherrer, Cody Mac Osbirn and Shayla McAllister. Previous recipients include Justin Archie, Connor Ashley, Zachary Barnett, Alex Bennett, Antonio Blagg and Trey Blanchard.
